June 12

Look who's ONE!
Happy first birthday to our sweet baby boy!!! God's grace and His love are indescribable. Children are a gift from the Lord, not a burden. Thank you God for giving us this fourth child!

As They Were Going

Luke 17:14 "And it came about that as they were going, they were cleansed."
As they were going, a step of faith, multiple steps of faith, and 10 lepers were healed. There was no stopping or staying, only moving forward.  A reminder to me to watch and see how God works when I walk on in victory, despite the view that I am seeing or the circumstances that surround me. Before moving here there were so many questions about what we should do and when...so many details to work out, so much we didn't know. We have seen God work out all the details so beautifully. The rose garden bushes in the picture were only "dead" stumps when we arrived. Keep on going when you are diseased, sick, discouraged, exhausted, jet lagged, up all night with the baby, taking care of sick children, in need, fed up and let down. Be steadfast in following God, in doing what He has said to do. "As they were going...."

Cukrazda

The cukrazda is one of our favorite places to go.  It is a dessert coffee house - they only serve sweets and coffees. We love Hungarian fadgi (ice cream), torta (cakes), and kek (cookies)! Sundays are the most crowded days at the cukrazda.

Easter Morning

Add Video

Our Easter tradition is to make hot cross buns for our breakfast. The children also dye eggs and hunt for them. We love reading the Bible story of Jesus' death and resurrection, and retell the story by acting it out. The Hungarians have a tradition for the boys to sprinkle water on the girl's heads. Many people will attend a church service because of tradition.

Cheetos

Yeah! We are all excited that Cheetos are available here. It's one of our favorite snacks!

Mountain Climb

Budapest is filled with hills and hiking is very popular here. We went with a group from our church to hike up a small mountain. We realized that this trip was much more difficult than we thought with 4 little ones. Our friends helped carry the kids to the top and push the stroller through gravel, rocks, and holes.

View from the tram

There are many great sights in Budapest. This view from the tram on the way to language class is of the Danube River and Gellert Hill. The winter sky is gray and gloomy. There is a feeling of sadness as I walk through the city and do not see hope in people's faces.

Our House

This is our new house. We are renting a duplex just outside the busy city of Budapest. The living room and kitchen are downstairs and 3 bedrooms are upstairs. We have a tiny backyard. Here is also the mission van that we use occasionally.

The crate arrived!

In April, our crate arrived in perfect condition! Praise God! We all had fun unpacking the boxes, or rather playing in the boxes. Having familiar things reminds us that we are home now.

Waiting for the cake!

Together we mixed up a beautiful cake for her third birthday in March, and had fun watching it bake in the oven. We also went to an indoor playground and ate pizza at the food court. It was a day of great celebration - her first birthday in Hungary!

Snow in February

Our "snowman"

She's catching snowflakes!

Family Night

Family nights are important at our house. Every Friday afternoon each person makes their own pizza, from the dough to the toppings, and we settle in for a fun routine of just hanging out together. After the meal we pile pillows on the floor for tickling, snuggling, and watch a movie.
